Work / Life Coaching

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
— Carl R. Rogers

What is coaching?

Coaching is a type of self development work, to help a person (or a team) achieve certain goals. It is distinct from both mentoring (a coach generally won’t offer advice or suggestions, and may not have any expertise in the client’s field), and from therapy (coaches are not trained medical professionals, and coaching should start from a healthy baseline). Clients may work with both of these other professions alongside coaching (in fact this can be very helpful!), and the three can be complimentary.

The power of coaching comes from the coach really listening to the client, and asking the right questions to allow the client to find the answers in themselves.

There are lots of ‘types’ of coaching out there, from ‘Executive’ and ‘Career’ to ‘Life’. I believe all aspects of our lives are interconnected, with our work impacting our home life and vice versa, so I generally don’t pigeon-hole my coaching into any particular box (hence ‘Work / Life’ coaching). For me, coaching is an approach and a mindset that can be applied to any challenge.

What sort of coaching do I offer?

I help my clients go deeper in order to go further, looking across their working and personal lives to help them understand themselves better, and grow from this place of understanding to make real transformation in their lives.

Typical work topics I’ve helped clients with include:

  • Career or role transition

  • Growth in a new role

  • Returning to work

  • Leadership development

  • Communication skills

And these have often sat in the wider personal context of topics like the following:

  • Self confidence

  • Feeling stuck

  • Finding purpose and meaning

  • Understanding personal values and drivers

  • Life direction and decisions

Take a look at my coaching programmes below, or I can create a bespoke package that works for your needs.

I use a range of techniques from different schools of coaching, including Co-Active and Gestalt, and creative techniques that aim to get clients out of their heads and exploring their challenges in a different way.

Why choose me?

The space I create

I bring a warm and open energy to my coaching, creating a safe and trusting environment for clients to be vulnerable, so they can grow. I will be your champion and your critical friend, acknowledging and challenging you, so you can connect to your own resourcefulness and create a life that works for you.

The standards I adhere to

I have trained extensively as a coach, completing courses and certification with the Coaches Training Institute (in Co-Active coaching), The Academy of Executive Coaching, and with ADHD Works (find out more about my ADHD coaching here).

In addition I am an Accredited Coach at Practitioner level with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, and adhere at all times to their Code of Ethics. Coaching is not a regulated industry, but having industry accreditation allows me to give clients assurance that I have met a strict set of requirements, and that there is a body that they can refer to if they have any serious issues.

My coaching principles

Meet the client where they are

We will co-create the coaching experience throughout, modulating content and style for what you need in that moment.

It’s never just the topic

Any coaching topic sits in a wider context - we will work together to understand that context, for more impact.

Embodiment brings understanding

We all need to get out of our own heads sometimes. Feeling perspectives and emotions in our bodies brings clarity.

Authenticity brings power - we can work out what that looks like for you, and how to live it.
